Tutoring is an academic support service offered free of charge to all WesternU students. To be a tutor, the student must be in good academic standing with their<br \/>\ncollege and one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a. Have received a grade of \u201cB\u201d or better in the course(s) tutored.<\/li>\n<li>b. Have been recommended by faculty or college representative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Tutoring is a privilege, not a right.\n<ul>\n<li>a. As such, tutoring privileges can be revoked at any time by LEAD if the student is<br \/>\nfound in violation of the Tutor Guidelines, or engages in unprofessional or<br \/>\nunethical behavior.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tutors responsibilities:\n<ul>\n<li>a. Tutors are expected to accurately adhere to LEAD policies and procedures. This<br \/>\nincludes the necessary TutorTrac training.<\/li>\n<li>b. Tutors are not expected to teach content, but rather answer any unclear concepts<br \/>\nor questions the students may have after studying.<\/li>\n<li>c. Encourage all tutees to discuss their academic concerns with LEAD counselors,<br \/>\ntheir Faculty Mentor, and\/or the Course Instructor.<\/li>\n<li>d. Tutors are expected to be aware of their own knowledge limitations and refer<br \/>\nstudents to their Faculty Mentor and\/or the Course Instructor for clarification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tutor availability\n<ul>\n<li>a. Since tutors are students themselves, tutors work an average of 4 hours per week<\/li>\n<li>b. Depending on assignment, tutors will either work in small groups (up to 15<br \/>\nstudents) or large exam reviews (open to entire cohort).<\/li>\n<li>c. Lab courses are not covered through TAP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tutors are expected to maintain professional behavior, this includes:\n<ul>\n<li>a. Working with LEAD to coordinate tutoring sessions, dates, and locations.<\/li>\n<li>b. Arriving on time and being prepared for the tutoring session.<\/li>\n<li>c. Communicating in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>d. Notifying LEAD of any unauthorized students attending tutoring session.<\/li>\n<li>e. Maintaining accurate record keeping.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Individual Tutoring\n<ul>\n<li>a.
